About The Position
Davidson Laboratory is seeking a research assistant to perform testing in the wave tank on an oscillating surge wave energy converter with the objective of implementing Reinforcement Learning for optimal power capture. This work will support ongoing research focused on improving the performance and efficiency of wave energy conversion systems.
Requirements
- Ph.D. in a relevant engineering or closely related discipline, or equivalent combination of education and research experience.
- Experience with engineering research, experimental testing, or related research activities.
- Ability to collect, analyze, and interpret research data.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a research team.
Responsibilities
- Perform testing in the Davidson Laboratory wave tank on an oscillating surge wave energy converter.
- Support the setup, operation, and monitoring of wave tank experiments.
- Collect and analyze experimental data related to wave energy converter performance.
- Support the implementation of Reinforcement Learning for optimal power capture.
- Document testing procedures, results, and research findings.
- Collaborate with the research team in support of ongoing research activities.
