About The Position

Southeast Orthopedic Specialists is seeking a detail-oriented Research Assistant to support our Clinical Research Department. This role is responsible for assisting with clinical studies, maintaining research databases, coordinating patient documentation, and supporting research activities for patients and providers. The ideal candidate has strong organizational and communication skills, thrives in a fast-paced clinical environment, and is comfortable interacting with patients, physicians, and clinical staff. Prior experience in clinical research, medical office support, or healthcare administration is highly desirable.

Nice To Haves

  • BA or AA degree and/or CRC Certification preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Prior clinical research or healthcare experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain online database. Assists in the collection of new data, the maintenance of current data, and the retrieval of misplaced data. Transfers the inventory of data source documents to the online database (PhDx) to ensure ease of data retrieval.
  • Perform various record keeping tasks such as scheduling, filing/scanning consent forms and source documents on all participants to ensure ease of data retrieval and tracking of participants within NextGen and online database (PhDx).
  • Assist with consenting patients for Clinical Studies (Total Joint Registry, Industry Initiated Investigations, etc.). Explains clinical research process to patient and family members, requests participation and obtains informed consent, etc. (NIH certification and IRB approval must be obtained within 1 month).
  • Assist patients while in clinic to complete necessary surveys on the computer and/or paper.
  • Perform testing on all Research patients (e.g. Cybex, Balance, etc.)
  • Prepare all necessary forms for surgeons in the operating room and patients/providers at office visits.
  • Provide copies of signed consent forms to patients and to PA’s to place in St. Vincent’s medical record.
  • Ensure adherence to research protocol guidelines for patient visits and required evaluation.
  • Communicate with clinical staff and patients/families by phone, fax, and mail, as necessary.
  • Perform all office assistant duties (typing, mailing, copying, scanning, filing, internet referencing, etc.).
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
