About The Position

The Research Assistant I will assist with research studies involving children and adults, both with and without neurologic damage or disease, conducted in the Motion Analysis Laboratory. Key responsibilities include managing records and correspondence for research participants, conducting tests using computerized motion analysis, video-based computer vision technologies, and wearable devices. The role also involves assisting with data analyses, which includes writing or updating software. There will be opportunities to present research findings at meetings.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science, or a related health care field required.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous biomedical research experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with task development and programming of studies of the motor disorders associated with neurological damage.
  • Test study subjects using computerized motion analysis, video-based computer vision technologies, and wearable devices.
  • Perform data analysis and present findings at research meetings.
  • Assist with the development of analysis software for capturing data gathered from studies of motor disorders.
  • Assist with coordination and recruitment of subjects (e.g., hanging flyers, making slides for presentations, answering questions via phone and email from interested participants, etc.).
  • Perform various types of data analysis including gait analysis and measurements of upper extremity movements.
  • Assist with equipment maintenance.
  • Obtain informed consent from research participants or their guardians.
  • Verify the accuracy and validity of data entered in databases, correcting any errors as needed.
  • Edit and submit protocols and other required research documentation.
