About The Position

This Research Assistant position will provide research-oriented support to projects focused on the Cardiac Electrophysiology Research Program's mission, which is to improve the outcome of pediatric patients who have arrhythmias. The Cardiac Electrophysiology Research Assistant will work on cardiac research studies and other research-related tasks to support the program's initiatives under the guidance and direction of the Cardiac Electrophysiology Research Manager. Responsibilities will include data validation and analysis, writing reports, and assisting with writing grant applications.

Requirements

  • Completion of a relevant technical program or a university degree in a relevant discipline and a minimum three years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • High degree of computer literacy with ability to use word processing, spreadsheet, internet and electronic mail applications (on PC and Mac OS) at an intermediate level.
  • Ability to take and transcribe accurate meeting minutes and follow up on action items with ease.
  • Superior organizational and time management skills.
  • Effective scientific writing, oral and written communication, interpersonal, and multitasking skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, for both academic and community audiences.
  • Ability to work both independently and within a team environment.
  • Attentive to detail, with the ability to work quickly and accurately.
  • Ability to exercise tact and discretion when handling sensitive and/or confidential matters.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree in health sciences or related field is considered a major asset.
  • Fluent with data validation and analysis activities.
  • Ability to effectively use MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
  • Experience with project evaluation, database management, online literature searches and web-based applications an asset.
  • Familiarity with database software such as REDCap and statistical methods

Responsibilities

  • Coordinating clinical and translational projects
  • Liaising with current and new participating sites; possible site visits if travel permitted
  • Conducting data validation and analysis activities for several projects involving multiple large databases
  • Writing reports and assisting with the preparation of manuscripts based on results from completed data analyses
  • Assisting with writing and submission of grant applications
  • Conducting computerized literature searches as needed, reviewing articles and compiling annotated bibliographies
  • Preparing documents, including correspondence, posters, presentations, and quarterly reports
  • Supporting projects of the Cardiac Electrophysiology Program as needed
  • Performing other related duties as required
