About The Position

Support faculty-led field research by assisting with outdoor data collection, equipment setup, and accurate record-keeping. This role contributes to ecological and environmental projects conducted on and off campus and develops hands-on skills in safe, professional fieldwork and basic data management.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct outdoor field surveys to collect biological, ecological, or environmental data
  • Record, organize, and maintain accurate field notes and data sheets using digital or written formats
  • Assist with setup, calibration, and use of field research equipment (e.g., GPS units, sampling nets, environmental sensors)
  • Work collaboratively with faculty, staff, and peers to complete field projects and research goals
  • Ensure safety protocols are followed in outdoor environments (use of protective gear, awareness of hazards)
  • Contribute to data entry, preliminary analysis, and preparation of research reports or presentations
  • Engage respectfully with local communities, landowners, and partners during off-campus fieldwork
  • Demonstrate initiative by learning new field methods, research tools, and environmental monitoring techniques
