About The Position

The Kidane Lab at Howard University College of Medicine is seeking a full-time Research Assistant/Lab Manager to study DNA repair, tumor immunology, and cancer biology. The position involves research using human cell lines and mouse models, applying techniques such as CRISPR/Cas9, next-generation sequencing, flow cytometry, and molecular biology assays. Some work may be required based on the progress of experimentation. This position is available immediately.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in biology or related field
  • 1+ years of lab experience in molecular/cell biology
  • Experience with mammalian cell culture and basic molecular techniques (PCR, Western blot, DNA/RNA work)
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and in a team

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree preferred

Responsibilities

  • Perform research assignments requiring a basic working knowledge of scientific methods, laboratory techniques, computer applications, and experimental procedures.
  • Assist the Principal Investigator with specific phases of research projects and provide support for laboratory and research activities.
  • Perform routine laboratory maintenance and reagent preparation.
  • Conduct molecular biology experiments, including PCR, cloning, Western blotting, and genotyping.
  • Maintain cell cultures and assist with mouse studies.
  • Support laboratory setup and ongoing research activities.
