About The Position
The Department of Astronomy and Astrophysics is seeking applicants for the part-time job of Research Assistant for the summer. Job duties to include: Assisting with the detection and vetting of transiting exoplanet candidates around young stars using TESS Full Frame Image data. Running and analyzing outputs from the pterodactyls transit detection pipeline for highly variable young stars. Performing data analysis and visualization in Python, including light curve inspection and candidate characterization. Contributing to the compilation and organization of exoplanet candidate catalogs and associated stellar properties.
Requirements
- Proficiency in Python for data analysis and visualization.
- Experience with light curve inspection and candidate characterization.
- Ability to compile and organize data catalogs and stellar properties.
Nice To Haves
- Experience with TESS Full Frame Image data.
- Familiarity with transit detection pipelines.
