About The Position

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Single-Cell RNA-seq Data Analyst to support the analysis and publication of high-throughput transcriptomic data. This role focuses on processing, analyzing, and interpreting single-cell RNA sequencing (scRNA-seq) datasets and contributing to scientific manuscripts.

Requirements

  • A firm commitment to the mission of BYU.
  • Proficiency in Python and R programming
  • Experience with single-cell RNA-seq data analysis (e.g., Seurat, Scanpy, or similar tools)
  • Strong understanding of basic statistical concepts (e.g., hypothesis testing, distributions, regression)
  • Experience with data visualization and interpretation
  • Ability to work independently and manage analysis workflows

Nice To Haves

  • Background in bioinformatics, computational biology, or related field
  • Experience with high-performance computing or cloud environments
  • Familiarity with version control (e.g., Git)
  • Previous involvement in scientific publications

Responsibilities

  • Perform quality control, preprocessing, and analysis of scRNA-seq datasets
  • Implement and optimize analysis pipelines using Python and R
  • Conduct statistical analyses to support biological interpretations
  • Visualize and communicate results clearly through figures and reports
  • Collaborate with researchers to interpret findings and refine analyses
  • Contribute to writing and preparation of scientific publications
