About The Position

The research assistant will assist Professor Paul Robinson of the Graduate School of Public and International Affairs with a project on the topic of ‘Russian defeatism’. This research will investigate Russian oppositionists who have sought their country’s defeat in war, spanning from the Russo-Japanese War (1904-1905) to the current war in Ukraine. The position is for the 2024 Spring/Summer Semester, with a work start date of June 01, 2026, and an end date of August 31, 2026. The total work hours are 118.49.

Requirements

  • Good knowledge of the Russian language.

Responsibilities

  • Identify articles relevant to the topic in historical newspapers available in digital form.
  • Find relevant material in the social media accounts of contemporary defeatists (e.g., Telegram channels and Twitter/X accounts), as well as other materials published in digital form (websites, etc.).
  • Carry out other research that becomes necessary as the project develops.
  • Organize the collected materials in an accessible form for easy location of specific information and to understand the relevance of the collected materials to the research questions.
