About The Position

Carnegie Mellon University's Department of Mechanical Engineering is searching for a Research Assistant to join their team in the FORGE Lab. This role will focus on completing research related to control methods for additive manufacturing processes. The successful candidate will help develop and evaluate control strategies in simulated environments and contribute to related publications. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Hands-on experience with deep learning frameworks
  • Foundational machine learning knowledge
  • Python proficiency
  • Successful background check

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree preferred
  • A combination of education and relevant experience from which comparable knowledge is demonstrated may be considered

Responsibilities

  • Conduct research under PI supervision
  • Contribute to manuscripts and lab activities
  • Present results at lab meetings
  • Develop and evaluate control strategies for additive manufacturing processes in simulated environments
  • Build and maintain simulation environments and control formulations for experiments
  • Document methods and results for publications and technical reports
  • Other duties as assigned
