Requirements

  • B.S. in Biochemistry, Chemistry, Biology or closely related field.
  • Knowledge of laboratory maintenance and equipment.
  • Knowledge of computers and computer software related to the position.
  • Good interpersonal skills, professionalism and competency.
  • Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others.

Responsibilities

  • Design, perform and analyze experiments to study the structure/function relationships of assigned proteins.
  • Cloning and expression of proteins of interest.
  • Purification of proteins in sufficient quantity to obtain crystals.
  • Crystallization of proteins.
  • Data collection and analysis.
  • Conducting NMR experiments on the prepared protein samples.
  • Selects and applies standard techniques of routine research and keeps detailed records of data.
  • Uses computers and laboratory or technical equipment to perform data analysis, statistical analysis, and technical evaluation of research experiments and results.
  • Assists undergraduate and/or graduate students and other laboratory, technical or field staff involved in research.
  • Assists with laboratory management of stocks, supplies and equipment.
  • Assists with reports, invoices, and cataloging records.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
