The UNC Institute for Trauma Recovery (ITR) is seeking a Research Assistant Professor (Non-Tenure Track Faculty) to advance its mission within the Department of Psychiatry at UNC. The ITR focuses on emergency care-based research studies, enrolling individuals in prospective observational or intervention studies to better understand and prevent posttraumatic neuropsychiatric sequelae. The Department of Psychiatry offers a supportive environment for research, clinical care, and career development. The ITR has two main goals: (1) to understand the development of adverse posttraumatic neuropsychiatric sequelae after traumatic stress exposure, and (2) to develop interventions to prevent these outcomes. The primary strategy involves recruiting and retaining talented staff, post-doctoral fellows, and faculty passionate about improving the lives of trauma survivors. The ITR utilizes several large acute care-based research networks/registries. There are diverse activities within the ITR, with opportunities to tailor activities based on individual interests, such as conducting medication and/or non-medication clinical trials or analyzing longitudinal data.
