About The Position

The A.J. Drexel Nanomaterials Institute and Professor Yury Gogotsi are seeking a Research Professor to lead a team focused on the development and applications of MXenes. The Associate will collaborate closely with the Director, staff, postdocs, students, and other faculty, providing leadership within the Institute.

Requirements

Minimum of a PhD or Doctorate in Materials Science, or a closely related field.
Minimum of 2 years of laboratory or industrial manufacturing experience after graduation.
Strong experimentalist with demonstrated hands-on laboratory experience.
Good oral and written communication skills in English.
Ability to interact effectively with a broad range of colleagues.

Responsibilities

Provide leadership to a group of up to 50 students, postdocs, and visiting researchers.
Collaborate with academic and industrial partners on research projects.
Offer guidance in the group’s research efforts in synthesizing and characterizing 2D materials.
Perform key research activities, including synthesis (wet chemical, high-temperature vacuum decomposition CVD; etching) and characterization techniques (SEM, TEM, Raman Spectroscopy, etc.) for carbon nanostructures, Mo₂C, and other 2D materials, such as MXenes.
Offer guidance and input on project aspects, including electrochemistry applications for water desalination.
Write research proposals and apply for research grants.
Perform all other duties as assigned.
