About The Position

The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine invites applications for an immediate opening at the Research Assistant Professor level in the Division of Research. The successful candidate will work closely with senior faculty to develop an independent research program focused on neurovascular dysfunction in sepsis, Alzheimer's disease, vascular cognitive impairment, and related neurodegenerative disorders. Responsibilities will also include preparing manuscripts, developing grant applications, and contributing to collaborative research initiatives.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. (or equivalent doctoral degree).
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • A record of academic achievement in research related to sepsis, Alzheimer's disease, vascular cognitive impairment, or neurovascular biology.
  • Expertise in pericyte biology and function in these disease contexts is highly desirable.
  • M.D., Ph.D., or Equivalent.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a valid drivers license.
  • Computer literacy.
  • Ability to learn and use new processes, tools and equipment as required.

Nice To Haves

  • A strong record of grant writing for extramural funding.
  • Expertise in two-photon microscopy and other advanced imaging techniques.
  • Experience using animal models to investigate pericyte function and neurovascular mechanisms in sepsis, Alzheimer's disease, and vascular cognitive impairment.
