This individual will be a faculty member in the Department of Anesthesiology and will report directly to the Vice Chairman, or his designee. This individual will be an expert on translational development of Herpes Simplex Virus (HSV) based therapeutics for treating serious chronic neurological disorders. A focus on nonopioid chronic pain therapeutics research and therapeutic candidate development are highly preferred. The hiring rank will be based on experience and current/past level of research funding. The Department of Anesthesiology is in need of a faculty member to work within the Division of Translational Research. The Division is engaged in interdisciplinary translational research programs spanning bench-to-bedside developing gene therapies for chronic neurological conditions with substantial ongoing NIH support. This position is open at the assistant/associate/full professor level. The appointment will depend on the candidates training and experience. This role requires the candidate to possess broad training in Herpes Simplex Virus (HSV) gene therapy, microbiology, physiology, pharmacology, molecular biology, as well as animal models of human disease. The incumbent will participate in ongoing gene therapy programs and carry out independent funded research projects. These projects should be relevant to translational development of HSV-based therapeutics for treating serious chronic neurological disorders in support of the Department’s long-term research mission.
