About The Position

The UNC Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology is seeking to recruit an epidemiologist or biostatistician at the Assistant Professor level to support department-wide research efforts. The successful candidate will be instrumental in developing and coordinating activities for study design, data analysis, results dissemination, and grant preparation. This role offers the opportunity to develop an independent research portfolio and contribute to a leading research department with significant NIH funding.

Requirements

  • Epidemiologist or biostatistician background.
  • Ability to teach in at least one programming language.
  • Experience working with faculty, staff, and learners using a variety of statistical software.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to foster collaboration and innovation.

Nice To Haves

  • Programming experience in two or more of the following statistical software packages: Stata, SAS, and/or R.

Responsibilities

  • Provide consultative services for faculty and learners.
  • Perform statistical analysis and provide support for individual research projects.
  • Plan and coordinate research training activities for learners, including curriculum development, project development, and presentations.
  • Contribute to grant development, including study design, statistical analysis sections, and power calculations.
  • Provide research mentorship to residents and fellows.
  • Engage in strategic planning for new department-wide initiatives.
  • Supervise junior analysts and students as the unit expands.
  • Develop an independent research portfolio as a principal investigator or co-investigator, supported by external sources.
  • Continue in existing research roles if applicable.
