About The Position
This part-time position is to carry out data analysis and scientific research with the VERITAS gamma-ray observatory under the supervision of Prof. Mukherjee. Tasks will include learning the basic analysis software, running VERITAS software on data sets and developing analysis code as needed. The research assistant will participate in summarizing the research in articles and presentations. No remote work. Coming to campus will be required.
Requirements
- Undergraduate Bachelor’s degree in Physics or Astronomy or Astrophysics.
- Proficiency with working with scientific analysis tools is required.
Nice To Haves
- Prior research experience is desired but not required.
Responsibilities
- Learn the VERITAS data analysis software
- Learn gamma-ray analysis software as advised by the PI
- Analyse data from VERITAS Observatory
- Assist in the dissemination of scientific results
- Ability to work independently
- Perform additional duties as needed
