About The Position

The Research Assistant will participate in multiple clinical studies as approved by the grant(s). The RA will oversee the administrative aspects of the grant and interact with study subjects, clinical research coordinators, study investigators, work study students and other research staff. Duties include but are not limited to, assisting with patient recruitment, scheduling study visits, administering questionnaires, creating and filing case report forms, entering and updating data, maintaining databases, running reports, storing samples, and performing other administrative tasks in support of the clinical studies. The RA maintains contact with the participating sites to insure complete and timely data collection, maintains patient profiles, assists with documenting financial and budgetary needs of the grant, and supporting the research team with the preparation of data and other report. We are seeking research assistant(s) to work within the Boston Medical Center Section of Infectious Diseases to assist with two clinical studies on Chagas disease. Chagas disease is a parasitic infection caused by Trypanosoma cruzi and is endemic in Latin America with an estimated 8-10 million infected people globally. Chagas disease is considered a neglected tropical disease and an under-researched condition with many knowledge gaps in disease pathogenesis, diagnostics, and treatment. Will assist with preliminary studies assessing the performance of novel assays for Chagas disease diagnostics. The research assistant will be responsible for recruiting and consenting research subjects. The research assistant must be fluent or have full professional proficiency in Spanish. Will have the opportunity to assist with recruitment and data collection for additional studies. This is a per diem (10h/week) position that requires availability Mondays, Tuesday mornings, and Thursday afternoons. The position will require on-site work at Boston Medical Center as well as remote work.

Requirements

  • Minimum of a Bachelor's degree by time of hire.
  • 0-1 years previous work experience preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to communicate with participants and to interact effectively with a variety of Medical Center staff and outside contacts.
  • Fluency or full professional proficiency in Spanish required.

Responsibilities
