About The Position

As a Research Assistant in the Way Lab at Cincinnati Children’s, you will support innovative immunological research aimed at improving pregnancy outcomes and enhancing newborn immunity. The lab investigates critical questions such as why mothers and babies tolerate each other immunologically, and how newborns adapt to the microbial-rich world at birth. These studies not only address urgent public health challenges like prematurity, infection, and stillbirth, but also offer insights into autoimmunity, transplantation, and cancer. Ideal candidates will bring experience in molecular biology, mouse models, and immunology, with proficiency in techniques such as flow cytometry. This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to high-impact research in a mission-driven environment.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent AND 2 years of work experience in a related job discipline or equivalent combination of education and experience
Experience in molecular biology, mouse models, and immunology
Proficiency in techniques such as flow cytometry

Responsibilities

Serve as a Resource - Demonstrate competence in specific knowledge, skills and behaviors. Perform experiments and record data - Follow research protocol. Maintain accurate and detailed records of all laboratory work and experiments. Analyze data; perform statistical and graphical analysis of data. Design and execute daily laboratory experiments in coordination with senior laboratory personnel. Reproduces and evaluates techniques and results for accuracy. Apply standard protocols to specific experiments, research and improve current methods, and evaluate innovative techniques. Assists in training students and new/junior laboratory personnel in laboratory techniques and equipment operation.
Customer Service - Maintain/manage strong working relationships with clients, colleagues, and other key stakeholders. Respond to requests quickly and effectively. Identify and understand customer needs and expectations and meets them. Communicate any relevant information to clients, colleagues, and other key stakeholders.
Lab Administration - Troubleshoot and correct erroneous results or problems with laboratory equipment. Reproduces and evaluates techniques and results for accuracy. Maintain inventory of laboratory supplies and equipment. Maintain cell cultures. Operate standard laboratory equipment. Use and maintains laboratory equipment appropriately. Responds to obviously erroneous results or problems with equipment. Assists in daily operations of the laboratory including answering phone, maintaining lab supplies, organization, and cleanliness.. Provides appropriate safety monitoring checks as assigned (radiation safety, biosafety, etc.).
