About The Position
The Research Assistant II works in Experimental Hematology & Cancer Biology in the Xin Lab at Cincinnati Children’s. The role performs and documents laboratory experiments according to research protocols, analyzes data, supports laboratory operations, and contributes technical knowledge to the department. The position also helps train students and junior laboratory personnel and maintains effective working relationships with colleagues, clients, and other stakeholders.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent and two years of work experience in a related job discipline.

Responsibilities
- Demonstrate competence in specific knowledge, skills, and behaviors; communicate with team members, share knowledge and experience, stay current on key systems, and serve as a departmental resource in specific areas.
- Follow research protocols and maintain accurate, detailed records of laboratory work and experiments.
- Analyze data, including statistical and graphical analysis.
- Design and execute daily experiments in coordination with senior laboratory personnel.
- Reproduce and evaluate techniques and results for accuracy; apply standard protocols, improve current methods, and evaluate innovative techniques.
- Assist in training students and new or junior laboratory personnel in laboratory techniques and equipment operation.
- Maintain strong working relationships with clients, colleagues, and other stakeholders; respond effectively to requests, understand and meet customer needs, and communicate relevant information.
- Troubleshoot and correct erroneous results or problems with laboratory equipment.
- Maintain inventory of laboratory supplies and equipment, maintain cell cultures, and operate and appropriately maintain standard laboratory equipment.
- Assist with daily laboratory operations, including answering the phone, maintaining supplies, and keeping the laboratory organized and clean.
- Perform assigned safety monitoring checks, such as radiation safety and biosafety checks.
