About The Position

The Research Assistant works in the Department of Pediatrics - Developmental Nutrition and will engage in work on or related to the “Community Expecting” and “We Move with Windy Interventions.” These programs are designed to support movement for mothers in pregnancy and for gross motor development for children. This position may engage in additional implementation science work. They will participate in team meetings, accomplish research data collection and coding, print projects, and arranging events/trainings throughout the state. This team member will work closely with project managers, the principal investigator and other team members to accomplish project goals.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in health science, social science, or related field plus one (1) year of research experience required.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to work on multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent PC skills with demonstrated experience using the Microsoft Office Package (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Outlook).
  • Proof of legal authority to work in the United States on the first day of employment.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct data collection in accordance with the study protocol and maintain records in an IRB-compliant system.
  • Organize materials to conduct fidelity observations and classroom data from various community sites, and code the data according to reliability.
  • Demonstrate and maintain 95% reliability in fidelity of data coding.
  • Create data collection tools as needed.
  • Perform data entry and data cleaning on various projects with fewer than 10% errors in work.
  • Coordinate study efforts, including assistance with coordinating community partners, scheduling research observations in accordance with research protocol, and monitoring progress in relation to the project timeline.
  • Monitor multiple participant sites and timelines to ensure fulfillment of all required deliverables.
  • Create promotional or educational materials with the given content for use in the project.
  • Provide support for community implementation efforts, including coordination with community partners.
  • Provide logistical support for events and trainings around the state, including identifying and arranging training/event locations and vendors.
  • Provide oversight of print, production, collating, and packaging of project materials.
  • Compile data, prepare reports, and create poster presentations for conferences.
  • Answer phones, copies, fax, filing, distribution of reports, and additional projects as assigned.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
