About The Position

The University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) has a unique combination of education, research, and clinical programs that encourages and supports teamwork and diversity. We champion being a collaborative health care organization, focused on improving patient care and the lives of Arkansans. The Research Assistant (RA) should have experience working in a laboratory setting. Our laboratory is interested in experimental pediatric heart transplantation using piglets. The RA will be responsible for designing, conducting, and analyzing experiments. A surgeon leads operations involving open-heart surgery with clinical training, working closely with the RA. The RA would be required to work independently on research projects and prepare manuscripts for publication. The RA will also attend daily clinical rounds to interact with the clinically active members of the laboratory. Our laboratory is well-funded. The ideal candidate would still be interested in obtaining grant funding to achieve career progression to faculty or staff scientist.
