The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center is a world-renowned institution dedicated to advancing cancer care, research, education, and prevention. Within UT MD Anderson, the Department of Genetics is located in the George and Cynthia Mitchell Basic Sciences Research Building in the Texas Medical Center and focuses on advancing knowledge of the molecular genetic mechanisms that regulate normal and abnormal cellular processes. The Research Assistant I will contribute to research that supports the understanding of human disease through molecular genetics, genome-wide analysis studies, next-generation sequencing technologies, and genetically engineered animal models. The Genetically Engineered Mouse Facility (GEMF) develops customized rodent models for medical research using advanced genome editing technologies, including TALEN and CRISPR. The Research Assistant I will support innovative projects related to gene editing, molecular biology, and assisted reproductive technologies. The Research Assistant I role offers an opportunity to contribute to research efforts that advance the study of cancer and other human diseases while working alongside experienced investigators and technical experts. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's Degree in a natural science or applied science research-related discipline and an interest in laboratory-based research. Experience working with mice, PCR techniques, and laboratory assays is highly desirable.
