The Research Assistant I position is located in the Leon Root Motion Analysis Laboratory (LRMALab) at Hospital for Special Surgery (HSS). This role involves the collection and analysis of 3D and 2D motion capture, ground reaction force, electromyographic, and plantar pressure data on patients to serve as the basis for their clinical treatment planning. This is a one-year full-time position which may be extended based upon both positive performance review and programmatic need. The LRMALab evaluates a wide range of individuals including pediatric, adult and geriatric in a multi-disciplinary environment, with typically 10 to 20 active research studies and a full caseload of lower extremity and upper extremity movement analysis patients. The central philosophy of the lab is to objectively examine anatomical/physiological structure and biomechanical function to improve methods of treating neuromusculoskeletal disease, with a vision to enhance diagnosis, prognosis, and treatment strategies.
