The Molecular and Cellular department strives to enhance basic research excellence by establishing a robust research group focused on the molecular and cellular aspects of cancer research, particularly in signaling pathways and crosstalk between tumor and tumor microenvironment in tumor initiation, progression and metastasis, and resistance to various therapies. The position will provide technical support for laboratory- based cancer research. The primary purpose of the Research Assistant I is to provide technical assistance for mouse colony management, animal treatment and other molecular biology experiments. Additional duties will include assistance with organizing reagents and samples, and assistance with general laboratory duties including ordering lab reagents, consumables and receiving shipments. The position requires independent decision-making, judgment and exceptional organizational skills. The incumbent is responsible for maintaining safety standards in the laboratory. Candidate must be willing to occasionally come to the laboratory on weekends when necessary for specific experiments. The ideal candidate for the Research Assistant I role will possess a bachelor’s degree in a basic science discipline and demonstrate strong organizational skills, exceptional attention to detail, and effective communication abilities. Hands-on experience working with research animals (e.g., mice) is required, while exposure to life science experiments such as PCR and mouse studies is preferred.
