About The Position

We currently have an opening position as a Research Assistant 2 (RA2) working with Prof. Malomo. This position involves experimental testing and structural analysis assessing the seismic performance of unreinforced masonry structures. The role will support testing small- to large-scale masonry specimens in as-built and retrofitted configurations, including specimen preparation, test setup, instrumentation, data collection and documentation. Additionally, the position will support structural analysis of unreinforced masonry structures subjected to seismic loads representative of Eastern Canada. These activities are to be conducted using established protocols with minimal supervision.

Requirements

  • Masters in Civil Engineering
  • Ability to use scientific instruments and machines
  • Ability to apply critical thinking to laboratory procedures.
  • Ability to observe, collect, and record data
  • Ability to provide guidance and to work alongside other research assistants and established academic leaders
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and teamwork skills.
  • English communication both verbally and in writing. The level of English required for this position has been assessed at a level #4 on a scale of 0-4.

Nice To Haves

  • PhD in Civil Engineering
