About The Position

Professor Claude Bhérer’s Lab is seeking a Research Assistant 2 to support a collaborative research project on complex diseases through genetic epidemiology analyses. The contract period is from June 22, 2026, to October 23, 2026. This role involves conducting analyses such as polygenic risk score (PRS) construction and Mendelian randomization to investigate genetic contributions to disease risk and outcomes. The position includes developing and implementing scripts and scalable analytical workflows for data processing and research activities. The Research Assistant 2 will collaborate with interdisciplinary team members, contribute to data interpretation, and support the generation of high-quality and reproducible research outputs. The role may involve writing theoretical or methodological reports, papers, or articles related to research activities, and the individual will be responsible for the quality and results of their own work. Additionally, the position may involve providing technical guidance and training to junior research staff and performing various administrative tasks related to the project.

Requirements

  • MSc in Human Genetics, Bioinformatics, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Background in human genetics, genetic epidemiology, and statistical genetics.
  • Experience analyzing large-scale sequencing and genotyping datasets.
  • Familiarity with methods such as polygenic risk score (PRS) construction, Mendelian randomization, and association analyses.
  • Proficiency in programming and scripting languages (e.g., Python, R, Bash) and experience developing reproducible workflows.
  • Experience working in collaborative research environments and handling large datasets.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to work independently.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to contribute to interdisciplinary research projects.
  • Knowledge of French and English.
  • Authorized to work in Canada.
  • Willing to work in the province of Quebec at the campus where the position is based/located.

Responsibilities

  • Providing technical guidance and training to research staff, including Research Assistants 1, Undergraduate/Graduate Student Research Assistants and Technicians, in the execution of tasks related to research projects.
  • Performing various administrative tasks related to the project.
