About The Position

The University of Miami's College of Arts and Sciences Department of Biology has an exciting opportunity for a temporary full time Research Assistant 2 to work in Coral Gables, FL. The Research Assistant 2 assists with and explores innovations to research and strives to improve implementation and family outcomes. The Research Assistant 2 ensures compliance with University policies, rules, and regulations to meet federal, state, and local standards pertaining to safety and ethics.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma
  • Minimum 2 years of relevant experience required
  • Learning Agility: Ability to learn new procedures, technologies, and protocols, and adapt to changing priorities and work demands.
  • Teamwork: Ability to work collaboratively with others and contribute to a team environment.
  • Technical Proficiency: Skilled in using office software, technology, and relevant computer applications.
  • Communication: Strong and clear written and verbal communication skills for interacting with colleagues and stakeholders.
  • Willingness to work outdoors in the South Florida summer (hot and humid conditions) is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with methods for surveying reptiles and amphibians is desired.
  • Background knowledge of wildlife studies, including birds, fish, mammals, reptiles, and amphibians will be given additional consideration so that contributions can be made to designing future projects.

Responsibilities

  • Plans and implements research experiments, according to research protocols, to assure high-quality scientific results in support of applicable project goals.
  • Assists with assessing the feasibility of implementing innovations.
  • Assesses data trends and develops reports and presentations.
  • Supports the initiation of new research by reviewing and synthesizing literature.
  • Maintains inventory of supplies and equipment.
  • Assists in the preparation of scientific papers, reports, and manuscripts.
  • Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.
