Organization: GI Medicine Research Job Summary: We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Research Assistant I to join our team. This is an excellent entry-level opportunity for individuals looking to launch a career in biomedical or life sciences research. This is a full-time, paid position (40 hours/week). Dr. Choksi's laboratory focuses on esophageal inflammation and cancer.

Requirements

  • B.S./B.A. in physical/life sciences or related field
  • Comfort with or willingness to work with laboratory mice (including physical handling and euthanasia)
  • Strong work ethic and eagerness to learn new techniques and protocols
  • Collaborative mindset and ability to work effectively as part of a team
  • Attention to detail and ability to follow written and verbal instructions

Nice To Haves

  • Prior research experience preferred but not required — we will train the best fit candidate

Responsibilities

  • Perform animal husbandry duties, including handling, monitoring, and experimentally manipulating laboratory mice
  • Maintain accurate, detailed records of animal health, experimental procedures, and observations
  • Support other team members with data collection and analysis
  • Assist with day-to-day laboratory operations and ongoing research projects
  • Follow all institutional animal care as well as biological and chemical safety protocols
  • Contribute positively to a collaborative, collegial, and productive lab environment
