About The Position

Under general supervision of the Promise Scholars Executive Director and advisement from the Senior Director of Student Affairs Assessment & Research, the Research Analyst leads and serves as an internal and external resource for tracking, assessing, analyzing, and reporting academic, community engagement, and effectiveness of program initiatives Cal Poly Scholars, Educational Opportunity Program (EOP), TRIO Achievers, and other Promise Scholars programs. The incumbent must maintain effective working relationships with a wide range of constituencies including, but not limited to, students, faculty, and staff – especially in Cal Poly Scholars, EOP, and TRIO Achievers. The Promise Scholars program provides holistic student support and facilitates connections to campus resources to improve retention and academic success among first-generation, limited-income, and/or historically underserved college students. This position specializes in serving students by collaborating with Academic Affairs and departments across the campus to implement activities that build transformative student experiences. In partnership with Academic Affairs, Promise Scholars resides in the Division of Strategic Enrollment Management and Student Affairs (SEMSA).

Requirements

  • Expertise in investigating and analyzing problems with a broad administrative impact and implications, including the ability to anticipate problems and address them proactively.
  • Ability to analyze and address complex issues using reasoning and the interpretation and application of theories and principles to develop and recommend alternatives and best courses of action.
  • Skill in the research, development, and evaluation of programs and policies, including the collection, evaluation, and interpretation of complex data to develop sound conclusions and make appropriate recommendations.
  • Working knowledge of operational analysis and techniques, including the ability to analyze complex data requests, research data availability, and translate user requirements into technology-based solutions.
  • Ingenuity in determining methods to achieve programmatic goals, including the ability to evaluate, recommend, and implement new technical tools and environments as needed.
  • Equivalent to graduation from a four-year college or university.
  • Three years of technical or administrative experience.
  • A graduate degree in a related field may be substituted for one year of the required experience.
  • Additional qualifying experience may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis.
