About The Position

The Research Analyst will join Goldman Sachs' Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A) Management team within the Investment Banking Division. The team centrally manages the M&A business through strategic analysis, reporting, and related management functions. The position offers an opportunity to build investment banking and M&A product knowledge, understand strategic decision-making and processes, and contribute to new initiatives while developing a deep understanding of the firm's M&A business. The analyst will work with a small team and interact with bankers across levels of seniority, as well as colleagues across multiple areas of the firm.

Requirements

One to three years of related experience preferred.

Responsibilities

Investigate and answer abstract questions relating to M&A.
Develop thought pieces on M&A activity, trends, and key drivers.
Complete ad hoc projects for senior M&A leadership for internal and external purposes.
Participate in developing and implementing critical M&A strategic initiatives.
Analyze Goldman Sachs' M&A business, including financial performance relative to competitors and market share by industry sector and region.
Interact with colleagues across the firm, including the Executive Office, Investment Banking Leadership, Investment Banking Marketing, and Investor Relations.
