About The Position

Man Numeric is a fundamentally-driven systematic investment manager that takes a bottom-up approach to research and security selection, distilling its findings into systematic processes applied across regions, styles, and capitalizations. It offers long-only and alternative investment strategies in equity and credit markets. The firm's research-driven culture, underpinned by advanced technology and data science, focuses on innovation and enhancement across alpha generation, risk management, portfolio construction, and implementation. This role is within the Strategic Alpha Research team (SAR), supporting all equity and fixed income strategies from alpha generation through to trade execution and implementation. The analyst will identify new investment ideas or innovative data sources, gather and refine complex data for modeling, code and perform statistical analysis to build and refine models, and interpret, present, and implement results. Research will also be conducted on implementation aspects like trading cost models, risk models, optimization, and portfolio construction.

Requirements

  • Passion in investment research with strong intuition and the ability to think-out-of-the-box.
  • Strong record of original research and demonstrated problem solving ability.
  • Excellent quantitative skills from training in econometrics or statistics, and extensive experience in utilizing those skills in empirical research.
  • Strong programming skills analyzing large and complex data with statistical tools (Python preferred).
  • Ability to communicate complex ideas clearly.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience in the investment field, especially in credit markets, is a plus but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and improve quantitative investment strategies in financial markets within the Strategic Alpha Research team (SAR).
  • Support all equity and fixed income strategies from alpha generation through to trade execution and implementation.
  • Work closely with other team members to create new and support existing strategies by identifying new investment ideas or innovative data sources.
  • Gather and refine complex data for modeling.
  • Code and perform statistical analysis to build and refine models.
  • Interpret, present, and implement the results.
  • Conduct research on various implementation aspects of investment strategies such as trading cost models, risk models, optimization, and portfolio construction.
