About The Position

The Brattle Group is seeking Research Analysts (RAs) to join their San Francisco office. This role is within a leading global economic and litigation consulting firm that provides expert analysis and testimony for legal disputes, regulatory proceedings, and business strategy. The firm applies economic, financial, and analytical expertise to solve complex problems and offer strategic insights. The RA position involves bridging economic theory with real-world application to aid clients in corporate finance, energy, competition, and regulatory economics. Economic consulting utilizes finance and economic theories, quantitative methods, and data analysis to address legal and business challenges, influencing major decisions worldwide.

Requirements

  • An undergraduate degree in a quantitative discipline (e.g., finance, economics, business, accounting, computer science) with strong academic performance.
  • A GPA of 3.7 or higher (based on a 4.0 scale).
  • Great teamwork and leadership skills.
  • Intellectual curiosity and creativity.
  • A high degree of ownership and commitment.
  • General finance knowledge, familiarity with financial concepts and interest in learning more.
  • Completion of a significant, self-defined project using quantitative analysis and economic principles.
  • Ability to apply quantitative analysis and economic thinking to real-world cases during the interview process.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience using programming languages such as Python, R, SAS, Stata, and VBA.
  • Experience with valuation models and estimating cost of capital.
  • Experience in securities litigation, including valuation, accounting, securities regulation, bankruptcy and restructuring, and white-collar fraud investigations.

Responsibilities

  • Build financial, economic, and operational models using Excel (e.g., valuation models, estimating cost of capital).
  • Potentially build models and create innovative data-based solutions for clients using programming languages like Python, R, SAS, Stata, and VBA.
  • Conduct comprehensive research, including financial statements, market analysis, literature reviews, document examination, and writing memos to support expert reports.
  • Assist in preparing expert reports and presentations to help experts clearly present complex economic and financial concepts in legal and regulatory contexts.
  • Collaborate closely with colleagues at all levels, contributing to the development of robust and innovative solutions for clients.
