About The Position

The student will perform quality assurance tests for scintillating fibers within the Medium Energy Physics group’s program to build the EIC’s imaging calorimeter. The student will use a test bench that has already been set up, take measurements and report them. In parallel, the student will work to improve neutron identification in the central detector of the CLAS12 detector, in the context of the Medium Energy Physic’s group involvement in the study of the structure of nucleons with the CLAS collaboration. The student will refine a machine-learning approach, will write an analysis note and implement code in the collaboration’s software.
