About The Position

Performs independent complex professional support to the University research enterprise by providing services in Pre/Post-Award Administration, Research Compliance and Training, and Research Administrative Service; serves as a resource for the Institute for Quantitative Health Science and Engineering (IQ) for research proposals for budgets; assists in all aspects of the preparation of internally and externally funded research projects; works with the Office of Sponsored Programs and Contracts and Grants Administration to carry out aspects of research proposal submission, revision and awards; works with other universities, federal and state government, foundations, and industries; reviews solicitations and develops grant budgets; reviews proposals to ensure compliance with sponsoring agency regulations and University policies and procedures; develops and coordinates multiple projects with accounting support; performs other administrative duties as needed.

Requirements

  • Knowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired by completing a four-year college degree program in Business administration, Finance, or a research-related field.
  • One to three years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in research administration including the area of pre- or post-award processes, or related field such as regulatory administration; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • This job requires completion of Essentials of Research Administration (MSU Certificate) or equivalent within one year of hire.

Nice To Haves

  • Four year degree in business or accounting preferred.
  • Experience supporting pre and post-award research administration, including budgets, expenditures, grants, contracts, cost sharing, or project closeouts.
  • Knowledge of research requirements and experience with financial or research administration systems, such as EBS, Kuali, Business Intelligence, or comparable systems.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Word.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage competing deadlines, maintain accurate records, exercise sound judgment, and work collaboratively.
  • Research administration training or certification is preferred.
