About The Position

The Research Administration Coordinator, within the Institute for Medical Engineering and Science (IMES), will be responsible for coordinating research administration and financial activities. This role operates under minimal supervision from the Senior Manager, Research Administration, and in close collaboration with Senior Research Administrators. The coordinator will manage a variety of pre- and post-award grant administration tasks, requiring the interpretation and resolution of complex situations and problems. This position provides guidance and financial support to faculty and labs within IMES and across other departments. Key responsibilities include managing pre- and post-award duties for a portfolio of researchers and billing agreements, which involves compiling and submitting proposals and budgets, setting up account structures, providing financial forecasts, monitoring and adjusting effort charges, approving transactions, submitting sponsor reports and renewal applications, and closing out accounts.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Minimum of two years of direct/related financial/accounting experience
  • Knowledge of and experience with financial systems, spreadsheets, accounting tools, and general finance administration
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Excellent analytical, communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to set priorities, work effectively under the pressure of deadlines, and deal with frequent interruptions
  • Strong computer skills including experience with Microsoft Excel and Word
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to learn changing technologies related to grants and contracts management

  • Knowledge of OSP Kuali COEUS and SAP, MIT's financial and administrative systems
  • Knowledge of Uniform Guidance, NIH and other federal sponsor policies, and MIT policies related to finance and research administration

Responsibilities
