About The Position

This part-time position is located at our Women's and Outpatient area, serving patients from Surgery, Outpatient Clinic, Wound Clinic, and Breast Clinic. The role involves gathering patient demographic and financial information, entering it into the computer system, assigning patient rooms, preparing necessary documentation, and escorting patients to their assigned areas. The Representative will also handle telephone calls, manage bed assignments, order stat cleans, and communicate with the house supervisor. They will inform patients of hospital regulations, secure armbands, obtain signatures, determine the need for Advance Beneficiary Notices (ABN waivers), and ensure patients are escorted or transported to their assigned areas. Additionally, the role includes meeting and greeting patients, scanning essential documents, pre-registering scheduled tests, and adhering to all safety, infection control, colleague health, HIPAA, and EMTALA regulations.

Requirements

  • Requires the ability to read, write and understand the English language, and communicate effectively with patients, visitors, staff and physicians while performing their job duties.
  • Strong computer skills, Windows experience.
  • Database software, mainframe information systems.
  • Ability to convey a positive image and communicate tactfully and professionally with staff, patients and the public.
  • Ability to work with diverse groups of people and to work under pressure.

Nice To Haves

  • Completion of Medical Secretary program or other general office training preferred.
  • One-year medical office experience (scheduling, insurance, or registration) preferred.
  • Hospital experience and/or medical terminology preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Scans all needed information (physician orders, driver's licenses, insurance cards, consents, etc.).
  • Pre-registers all scheduled tests.
  • Adheres to all safety, infection control, and colleague health policies and procedures.
  • Follows HIPAA and EMTALA regulations per hospital policy.
