About The Position

POLITICO is seeking exceptional college students and recent graduates for its Spring 2027 reporting internship program. This program offers the opportunity to cover the biggest stories in Washington as they unfold, with a behind-the-scenes view of how news gets made. Interns will work independently and with their team on breaking news, enterprise stories, newsletters, and more. They will also have the chance to report in the field, including on Capitol Hill, and build their skills through biweekly intern-specific trainings, newsroom sessions, and direct feedback.

Requirements

Demonstrated interest in Washington, politics, and policy.
Strong foundational reporting and writing skills.
Excellent news judgment.
Ability to work quickly and efficiently under deadlines.
Entrepreneurial mindset.
Proven experience in a newsroom.
At least one professional news media internship or job preferred.

Responsibilities

Cover fast-paced developments in real time, quickly turning around stories on Washington’s most important power players and events (Breaking News team).
Work as a full-time beat reporter on a policy reporting team covering the federal government's role in various aspects of American life, including health care, transportation, technology, and education (Policy team).
