Reporter, US News and Crime
About The Position
Fox News Digital is seeking an experienced Reporter to join its US News/Crime team. This is a non-on-air role for a seasoned reporter with extensive national newsroom experience and a wide range of sources to break news and conduct original, exclusive reporting. The role involves emphasizing original, enterprise, and investigative reporting, responding to breaking news accurately under pressure, and producing stories with multimedia elements. The ideal candidate will have a strong network of criminal, legal, and police contacts, pitch stories daily, and execute both short- and long-term assignments. The position requires a competitive spirit, an 'on-call' mentality, and the ability to travel domestically and internationally. Proficiency in leveraging AI tools for research and story framing is also expected.
Requirements
- Professional newsroom experience
- Experience covering US news at a national media outlet, digital experience preferred
- Experience covering crime, courts, legal, and investigations
- Knowledge of AP style writing
- Command of PACER, Lexis-Nexis, FOIA requests
- Command of SEO
- Experience with digital analytics to monitor, build traffic
- Experience with headlines CMS, WordPress knowledge
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally
- Possess a competitive spirit
- Possess an “on-call” mentality and be prepared to work outside of shift in emergency or breaking news conditions
- Eager to network out of the office
- Voracious consumer of news
- Ability to leverage AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT, Gemini, NotebookLM)) to accelerate research, fact-gathering, and story framing in a fast-moving news cycle.
