About The Position

CBS Newspath is seeking an MMJ/Reporter to join our news team in Houston. We are looking for a self-motivated, curious storyteller with a love for shooting, writing, and editing national stories of interest, including consumer and health. This role will involve pitching daily story ideas, gathering news for TV and digital platforms, and working with producers and news managers on developing, researching, investigating, writing, producing, and presenting stories. The reporter will present completed news stories that are accurate, journalistically sound, fair, and balanced. They will also report live during affiliate newscasts, including breaking news, and will be responsible for shooting, editing, coordinating, managing, conducting, and video recording interviews. Building contacts for impactful original stories is also a key responsibility. Flexibility with respect to scheduling and/or assigned work shifts is required.

Requirements

Minimum of 5 years of experience as an MSJ/ Television Reporter Experience
Proven interview skills
A valid driver’s license
Minimum 5 years' experience writing, producing and desktop editing

Responsibilities

Pitch daily story ideas, gather news and information for various platforms including TV and digital
Work with producers and news managers on developing, researching, investigating, writing, producing, and presenting stories as needed for both TV and digital platforms
Present completed news stories that are accurate, journalistically sound, fair and balanced
Report live during affiliate newscasts in cities around the country, including breaking news as needed
Shoot, edit, coordinate, manage, conduct, and video record interviews
Build contacts for developing impactful original stories
