About The Position
The Rocky Mount Telegram is hiring a reporter to cover the people, government, and events that shape the community in Nash and Edgecombe counties. The role requires producing a variety of compelling stories for both web and print. The ideal candidate will be collaborative, tech-savvy, and enthusiastic about community news coverage and photography.
Requirements
- Strong news writing skills.
- Familiarity with AP style.
- Comfort using a camera.
- Comfort using social media.
- Comfort using web publishing tools.
- Reliable transportation.
- Flexible, can-do attitude.
Responsibilities
- Cover and write daily deadline-driven stories on topics ranging from county commissioner meetings to human interest features.
- Shoot photos and videos to accompany stories.
- Build relationships with sources and the community.
- Receive feedback constructively and work effectively as part of a team.
