About The Position

The Réseau de l'information (RDI) is seeking a journalist to work at the Radio-Canada headquarters in Montreal. For reference, this reporter/researcher position will be assigned based on production needs. The work schedule is therefore to be determined and may change. This is a permanent full-time position. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
  • Two (2) years of experience in journalism or equivalent
  • Strong general knowledge
  • Excellent understanding of current events
  • Excellent knowledge of the Corporation’s journalistic standards and practices
  • Excellent command of French, both spoken and written
  • Radio-Canada journalistic tests
  • Interview
  • Candidates may be subject to skills and knowledge testing.
  • A mandatory Criminal record check.
  • Other background checks may be conducted based on the operational requirements of the position.

Nice To Haves

  • Interest and aptitude for digital platforms, an asset.
  • Excellent knowledge of federal, Canadian, and Quebec politics (an asset)
  • Proficiency in English, an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Research, pitch, and prepare relevant news content and interviews in line with the program’s mandate, as well as the journalistic standards and policies of Société Radio-Canada.
  • Pitch story ideas, angles, and potential guests.
  • Research, assess, and verify information on assigned topics for the host and/or program collaborators.
  • Select and edit visual clips as needed.
  • Identify and secure interviewees.
  • Propose and write interview questions and scripts; compile research files (press reviews, pre-interviews, interview plans).
  • Coordinate interview logistics (guest arrival times, fees, parking, makeup).
  • Plan upcoming programs and maintain the events calendar.
  • Perform any other related tasks required to carry out the above responsibilities.
