About The Position

This posting is intended to fill two (2) reporter-researcher positions within the ICI Estrie team: one assigned to daily production and the other to medium- and long-term production. These are 8-month temporary positions with a start date in June 2026. The role requires full-time on-site presence. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent.
  • Two (2) years of experience in journalism or equivalent.
  • Excellent knowledge of current events.
  • Broad general knowledge.
  • Strong understanding of research techniques and tools.
  • A well-developed and up-to-date network of contacts.
  • On-air ease, particularly in radio.
  • Ability to work as part of a team while demonstrating autonomy and resourcefulness.
  • Ability to work under pressure with tight deadlines.
  • Excellent command of French, both spoken and written.
  • Must hold a valid driver’s licence.
  • Strong knowledge of the Eastern Townships region and its key stakeholders.
  • Demonstrate creativity, initiative, and rigor.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Availability for non-standard work hours.
  • Mandatory Criminal record check.
  • Other background checks may be conducted based on the operational requirements of the position.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of the organization’s journalistic standards and practices is an asset.
  • Intermediate-level English speaking and reading skills, and basic writing skills (asset).

Responsibilities

  • Proposing relevant topics and content for daily production.
  • Developing original interview angles for daily production.
  • Identifying engaging guests for daily production.
  • Enhancing programs’ content on digital platforms for daily production.
  • Contributing to investigative journalism for medium- and long-term production.
  • Preparing coverage plans and deployments scheduled throughout the year across various platforms for medium- and long-term production.
  • Planning interviews for medium- and long-term production.
  • Gathering large amounts of information on multiple topics and synthesizing it into comprehensive files.
  • Monitoring court dockets and maintaining a network of contacts with lawyers.
  • Handling the station’s access-to-information requests.
  • Working on multiple files simultaneously.
  • Complying with CBC/Radio-Canada’s Journalistic Standards and Practices.
