Radio-Canada Saskatchewan is looking for a full-time permanent Producer to participate in the production of the afternoon radio program Tout compris. The position is based in Regina. In this role, you will report to the station’s Senior Content Manager and senior producers. Your role will be to develop and produce program ideas and content, work with on-air talent, chase stories and direct the afternoon radio show or other teams as required. Work must comply with CBC/Radio-Canada’s programming policies and Journalistic Standards and Practices, and you are responsible for ensuring this occurs. There is wide latitude for initiative, independent judgment and creativity. There is also a regular and ongoing requirement to coordinate and vet the work of others. You will collaborate with other producers and production staff, including the news, television and digital teams, in producing content and determining the focus of daily and special programming. This position requires full-time on-site presence.

Requirements

  • University degree or equivalent in communications; communications and journalism; communications, writing and multimedia; or any other relevant field.
  • Five (5) years’ journalism experience, of which at least three (3) must involve radio and/or television broadcasting.
  • Superior English- and French-language skills.
  • Proven journalism skills.
  • Ability to generate original story ideas.
  • Proven experience producing journalistic programs and stories.
  • Knowledge of, and significant experience in, radio programming as well as production for news and information programs, including a demonstrated ability to write, edit, vet and line up.
  • Demonstrated understanding of journalistic practices in the broadcasting industry.
  • Excellent editorial judgment.
  • Strong understanding of radio fundamentals.
  • Knowledge of issues affecting Saskatchewan and the French-speaking community.
  • Keen eye and ear for stories and story development in terms of both news and current affairs.
  • Knowledge of CBC/Radio-Canada programming.
  • Understanding of CBC/Radio-Canada’s Journalistic Standards and Practices.
  • Ability and confidence to make good decisions rapidly and frequently, often under deadline, plus the ability to handle and work under stress.
  • Ability to keep track of a number of simultaneous activities; to plan and prioritize; and to analyze complex journalistic and operational issues.
  • Leadership skills to inspire and direct creative, experienced and self-motivated staff with a consultative and “team approach” style.
