The Globe and Mail is seeking an ambitious reporter to cover energy and politics in Ottawa. Canada has set ambitious goals to ramp up the country’s energy sectors and has committed to streamline approval processes to help attract investment to achieve those goals and to diversify trade. To be successful, you will have a firm grip on energy, energy policy and the business of energy, including capital markets. The ideal candidate will understand the speed and extent to which the political discussion on energy has shifted and a curiosity to explore Ottawa's intention to be both investor and business enabler in Canada’s energy future. Reporting to the politics and economy editor, this is an opportunity to join a collaborative team of reporters who cover politics, economics and business. Working out of The Globe’s Ottawa bureau, with whom you will work closely along with Western Canada bureaus, you will be expected to file a variety of stories regularly: source-based scoops; breaking and scheduled news; enterprise reporting; and features that bring energy and economic policy to life.
