The Globe and Mail is seeking an economics reporter to cover government and fiscal policy in Ottawa. To be successful, you will have a firm grip on economics, a keen eye for policy and a drive to reveal how business interacts with the federal government and vice versa. You will understand politics and the day-to-day rhythms of Ottawa, but cover them through a lens that is economic. The ideal candidate will connect policymaking to the people, companies and regions that are affected by government decisions. Reporting to the politics and economy editor, this is an opportunity to join a collaborative team of reporters who cover economics and business, working out of The Globe’s Ottawa bureau, with whom you will work closely. You will be expected to file a variety of stories regularly: source-based scoops; breaking and scheduled news; enterprise reporting; and features that bring economic and fiscal policy to life.
