About The Position

Transco Rail Services is seeking a Repair Technician to support railcar repair operations by performing basic repairs. The technician repairs parts made of metal or other weldable materials according to layouts, work orders, blueprints, schematics, and sketches. The role involves a variety of railcar repair tasks and working collaboratively in a team environment while maintaining positive working relationships at all levels.

Requirements

• Knowledge of, or willingness to learn, air brake testing.
• Ability to work in adverse weather conditions.
• Ability to perform physical activities including climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling materials.
• Ability to lift 50 pounds using proper body mechanics.
• Ability to work in a team environment and maintain regular, predictable attendance.
• Ability to pass a drug screen and physical.

Responsibilities

• Perform basic repairs to railcars and their parts.
• Repair metal and other weldable materials according to layouts, work orders, blueprints, schematics, and sketches.
• Use pneumatic and hydraulic tools, grinders, jacks, welders, cutting torches, forklifts, and cranes.
• Read specifications, shop drawings, schematics, and blueprints.
• Perform air brake tests or learn how to perform them.
• Keep the materials area and other work areas clean and orderly and report potential hazards.
• Work collaboratively with a team and maintain good working relationships at all levels.
