The Repair Technician is responsible for the inspection, troubleshooting, repair, testing, and documentation of medical devices that are returned. This role performs root cause analysis to determine any reoccurring failure points or irregularities with products. The technician works closely with the Technical Returns Evaluation Manager in collaboration with Quality, Engineering, and Operations teams to support product reliability and customer satisfaction.

Requirements

  • 2-5 years experience repairing medical devices.
  • Ability to follow procedures.
  • Ability to understand drawings/ schematics.
  • Basic Computer Skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to produce clear, professional technical reports.
  • Prior experience with RMA processes.
  • Prior experience with conducting root cause analysis.
  • Strong understanding of electronics, mechanical assemblies, and troubleshooting techniques.
  • Ability to read schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation.
  • Proficiency with test equipment (multimeter, power supply).
  • Familiarity with ERP systems, experience with Epicor is a plus.
  • Electromechanical equipment repair experience or equivalent

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working in a regulated manufacturing or service environment preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose product issues using schematics, work instructions, method sheets, and diagnostic tools.
  • Perform repairs, replacements and functional testing on medical devices.
  • Follow ESD, cleanliness and safety protocols.
  • Verify device performance against specifications and acceptance criteria.
  • Identify recurring issues and escalate complex failures to Technical Returns Evaluation Manager.
  • Accurately document repairs, test results, and root causes in ERP system (Epicor).
  • Provide feedback on repair trends, failure modes, and any issues that are found.
  • Assist Technical Returns Evaluation Manager with development or revision of repair procedures and work instructions.
  • Participate in Lean or continuous improvement initiatives to reduce turnaround time and defects.
  • Collaborate with Quality, Engineering, Supply Chain, and Customer Support.
  • Experience with RMA processes and conducting root cause analysis.
  • Communicate repair status, technical findings, and part requirements clearly.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
