About The Position

We are looking for an Entry-Level Repair Technician to provide support by performing basic repairs. You will repair parts of metal or other weldable materials according to layouts, work orders, blueprints, schematics, and sketches. You will be responsible for performing a variety of rail car repair related tasks and working in a TEAM environment, establishing good working relationships at all levels. This role involves assisting more experienced welders with cutting and welding operations for repair and fabrication work, aligning and welding components of metal tools, wires, fixtures, and other metal products, and potentially utilizing different welding systems. A significant portion of this role is to learn the trade from more experienced coworkers.

Requirements

  • Use a variety of tools and equipment such as pneumatic and hydraulic tools, grinders, jacks, welders, cutting torches, forklifts, and cranes.
  • Read specifications, shop drawings, schematics, and blueprints.
  • Knowledgeable or willing to learn how to perform air brake test.
  • The ability to work in adverse weather conditions.
  • The ability to perform physical activities that require considerable use of arms and legs and moving the whole body such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling materials.
  • The ability to lift 50 pounds with proper body mechanics.
  • Ability to work within a teamwork environment with regular and predictable attendance.
  • Able to pass drug screen, physical.
