About The Position

Perform the Maintenance Engineering support tasks needed to provide continuous operation of Heavy Duty Engine (HDE) Machining Operations. Machining operations to include: Blocks, Connecting Rods, Heads, Liners, and Turbo Machining & Assembly Operations. The Maintenance Engineer primarily works to maintain the operational readiness of all machining equipment, and also participates in cross-functional teams with the Maintenance Supervisor & Controls Engineer, and members of the Operations & Quality Departments.

Requirements

  • BS degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or related field and 2-4 years of relevant experience, or 6 years in lieu of degree, is required.
  • Proficient with PC hardware and commercially available software.
  • Knowledge of safety codes and standards.
  • Knowledge of fluid systems (pneumatic, hydraulic, coolant, and lubrication).
  • Proficient with AutoCAD and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Strong oral and written communication skills and interpersonal skills to work effectively with others.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and create drawings of equipment, hydraulic, pneumatic, and general electrical circuits.
  • Ability to work overnight shift with occasional required weekend shift.
  • An attached resume is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with Maximo, SAP, and Outlook.
  • Knowledge of metal cutting, press force monitoring, part marking, fastening, washing, and filter manufacturing & machining processes.

Responsibilities

  • Provide mechanical engineering & technical support to a collaborative team of Skilled Trades, Controls & Process Engineers in the diagnosing & repairs of CNC and Assembly Machining Operations.
  • Provide the technical drawings & OEM documentation to the Machining Maintenance team of Supervisors, Engineers, & Skilled Trades needed to troubleshoot faults, and diagnosing equipment failure.
  • Support all critical machine breakdown repairs, with interaction across all three shifts of support team members.
  • Support troubleshooting efforts of complex machining equipment downtime issues.
  • Implement and support machining monitoring systems.
  • Assist the Manufacturing Engineering team and equipment OEM’s with specifications for new machines & machine upgrades.
  • Apply new technology and continuous improvement projects to existing machining processes to provide optimal machining solutions & increased efficiency.
  • Attend SFM meetings and work closely with Operations Team to improve equipment uptime by reducing MTBF & MTTR, and improve the overall reliability and safety of machining equipment.
  • Interpret machining equipment production data to help develop machine upgrade projects & implement cycle time improvements.
  • Work with TPM group in the planning, scheduling, & execution of planned maintenance.
  • Assist identifying the critical spare parts and proper inventory levels needed to sustain machining operations.
  • Participate in teams and cross-functional groups.
  • Create maintenance plan TIPs & SWI’s, and work closely with ME & machining equipment OEM’s to provide specifications for new machines & machine upgrades.
